Stornoway Lodge: The home owner’s asked Jon, “What have you always wanted to build if you could have creative control?” Jon replied, “To handcraft a log home with massive logs!” We are going to see both the home owner’s vision and Jon’s dream begin! The home owners are excited to spend time up at the cabin. The logs will average a 24″ mid-span, and some logs will be 40″ in diameter! The home owner’s of Stornoway Lodge agreed to take their final plan and add two feet each way to compensate for the size of the logs.  Jon hand selected the logs and harvested last year in January.

The dimensions of the main floor are 38′ x 52′, with 1,976 square feet. Walking through covered Entryway, your eyes will take in the bedroom, laundry room and full bathroom, with the focal point of seeing through the great room’s twelve foot french door picture window taking in the lake view and nature. The kitchen with it’s island is open to dining and grea \t room. Family and friends will gather here to visit and take in the wood burning stone fireplace on the chilly MN evenings. The screened porch off the dining room will be a summer’s eve favorite to watch the sun set and play games and keep mosquitoes away.

The loft has two full dormers for the master bedroom with walk in closet and private balcony. There is a second bedroom, full bathroom and a large living area overlooking the great room. The fully finished basement has two bedrooms, full bath, utility room, spacious storage area and family room.  Log home started January 9, 2019; Reassembled on March 29, 2019
